Sunday's Grade 2, $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga will be a critical race for Da' Tara. It will be an opportunity for him to prove that his Belmont Stakes victory was not a fluke, that he merely capitalized when Big Brown chucked it a mile into the 1 1/2-mile race. More significantly, the Jim Dandy could help propel Da' Tara into the mix for champion 3-year-old colt.

And the likelihood that the surface will be closer to soft than firm on Saturday has made uncertain the likely starting field, and final result, of the Grade 1, $500,000 Diana. It drew a field of 10 female turf runners, but could be impacted severely by the recent rain.

Misty Ocean on a rollBy STEVE ANDERSEN - Posted 10:22 pm
Misty Ocean, the stakes-winning 3-year-old turf filly had her own triple crown of sorts this spring. On the same weekends as the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes, Misty Ocean won turf races in California.
The final win of the sequence, the Grade 2 Honeymoon Handicap at Hollywood Park, came hours after Da' Tara won the Belmont Stakes on June 7.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer considered starting Misty Ocean in the Grade 1 American Oaks at Hollywood on July 5, but passed it up in favor of Saturday's $150,000 San Clemente Handicap at Del Mar.
